Symposium Registration Form

The NEAEP would like to warmly welcome you to our 2011 Annual Symposium “From Our Practice to Yours”. We are very excited about the major expansion in this year’s program and we believe this is the must-attend conference for this year. Over 130 hours of continuing education credits will be available including several wet-lab opportunities to complement the general scientific presentations. Select presentations throughout the educational schedule will be enhanced this year by the addition of an audience response system, allowing each attendee to directly participate in these special presentations! This year’s program will cover Lameness & Sport Medicine, Internal Medicine, Reproduction, and Podiatry.

We are pleased to announce an extensive Lameness and Sport Medicine program this year, including two very special wet-lab opportunities. A full day of instruction will be provided by a select panel of specialists demonstrating many of the less-commonly used diagnostic and therapeutic injection techniques on cadavers.  Ultrasound machines will be provided for this laboratory or participants may bring their own equipment. The following day a multi-station wet-lab will provide instruction on specific ultrasound techniques throughout the musculoskeletal system. Again, ultrasound machines will be provided, or attendees may feel free to utilize their own equipment.  This year’s scientific program will feature nationally- and internationally-known speakers sharing their wisdom on topics ranging from the foot and pastern through the difficult tarsus/proximal suspensory region and stifle to the neck, back and sacroiliac regions.  Additionally, interactive panel discussions will again be offered as presenters will be discussing difficult cases and encouraging direct audience participation. As noted above, a special event will be occurring on Friday afternoon, when the Lameness and Podiatry programs will be combined, providing an opportunity to hear veterinarians and farriers together discussing difficult lameness/shoeing cases.

Our Internal Medicine laboratory will explore the adult equine abdomen by ultrasound - this is a half day session and participants are welcome to select another half day laboratory. The scientific program covers a wide array of subjects including cardiology, neurology, and endocrinology as well as touching on the respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract. In addition, several combined presentations will discuss both Reproduction and Internal Medicine.

The Podiatry program will start with an 8-hour multi-station farrier clinic. There will be six stations demonstrating techniques for glue-on shoes, specific shoe-making, sport horse shoeing, welding techniques, applying extensions, and anatomy. Attendees will be required to choose four of the six stations at which to participate. The scientific program has been expanded to include management topics.  Various ways to address both normal and pathologic equine feet will be presented.  A special event will be occurring Friday afternoon, when the Lameness and Podiatry programs will be combined.  This will provide participants with the opportunity to hear veterinarians and farriers together discussing difficult lameness/shoeing cases.

The Reproduction scientific program will feature sessions ranging from ultrasound of early pregnancy to frozen semen techniques. Several interactive panel discussions will be presented, highlighting discussions of difficult cases in a format designed to encourage audience participation.  Several sessions will also feature a combination of subjects addressing Internal Medicine topics.
