The NEAEP is proud to present the
2010 Annual Symposium. We are very excited about this year's
program, which is guaranteed to provide new and insightful lectures from
nationally- and internationally-renowned speakers. The addition of
interactive, panel-based discussion sessions throughout our program will
keep participants truly involved in this continuing education
experience. The Lameness & Performance Program will
focus on clinical case-based discussion, with interaction
between the presenters and audience. This interactive panel will
be complemented by lectures presenting current findings on a variety of
topics from the latest in intra-articular and intralesional therapies to
maximizing diagnostic capabilities and imaging choices. This
program is complemented by the Ultrasound Wet-Lab, which will enable
attendees an amazing hands-on experience rarely offered in this small,
interactive setting. The Mystic Valley Hunt Club will provide the
setting for an entire day of hands-on ultrasound education guided by
ultrasonographers who will provide individual attention to each
participant.
The Reproduction Program will be
highlighted by both interactive panel-based discussions and case
report-based discussions to focus on clinically applicable information.
Additional time will be devoted to specific stallion issues and a
discussion of nutrition in the broodmare and foal. To reinforce
the information provided in this program, the Reproduction Wet-Lab will
also be offered at the Mystic Valley Hunt Club. This incredible
opportunity will allow participants unique hands-on experience with a
variety of reproductive techniques guided by board-certified
theriogenologists in this small-group setting. The Internal
Medicine Program will cover a wide array of topics on infectious and
non-infectious disease processes, designed to allow the practitioner to
take clinically-applicable information directly back to their practice
setting. In addition to updates on endocrinological diseases
commonly encountered in the horse, a special section of this program
will focus on nutrition in both the well and sick horse to optimize
athletic performance and recovery from injury and illness.
This year’s Annual Symposium
program is being expanded in many ways, including the addition
of a specific program designed for veterinary technicians and
assistants. The Vet-Techs and Assistants Program includes an
exceptionally well-rounded group of speakers including both
registered veterinary technicians and veterinarians discussing a
wide range of topics over a full day and a half of lectures.
This will then be followed by an exciting wet-lab opportunity
for veterinary technicians and assistants to increase their
skill levels in a unique hands-on experience provided at the
Mystic Valley Hunt Club. This program is being offered in
conjunction with the American Association of Equine Veterinary
Technicians and Assistants (AAEVT), a educational partner of the
NEAEP.
The Farrier Program is returning in
2010 as an integral part of the NEAEP Annual Symposium program.
In a continuing effort to develop and improve the
veterinarian-farrier relationship to enhance the level of care
we can provide to our equine patients, this year’s program
provides a wealth of knowledge from certified journeyman
farriers and veterinarians alike. Focusing on the foot, this
year’s program will cover topics from specific shoeing
situations to the anatomy underlying the theories behind
specific shoeing techniques and will touch on the diagnostic
techniques involved when horses become lame.
