As the NEAEP heads into its fourth year I feel honored and privileged to serve as the president of this dynamic and progressive organization.  The NEAEP was created to serve the veterinarians, farriers, veterinary technicians and horse owners of the northeast and to address the needs and challenges specific to this region of the country.  As the first equine practitioners association in the country to include farriers as members, the NEAEP blazes new trails into the frontier of veterinarian/farrier relationships.  The needs of the horse are best served when those of us that care for them work together and it is very exciting to be part of an organization that makes it a priority to foster these relationships.

It is also the goal of the NEAEP to provide world class, state of the art continuing education.  The 2011 symposium help in Norfolk, Virginia was an enormous success with over 130 hours of CE provided in both wet labs and lectures.  As we look forward to 2012, the NEAEP will head to Pittsburgh.  Speakers, world renown for their expertise in lameness, will provide insight into the cause, diagnosis and treatment of repetitive use injuries.  Experts in the fields of medicine, theriogenology and podiatry will discuss topics such as insulin resistance, dermatology, infertility and corrective shoeing.  Panel discussions will allow practitioners to interact with the speakers and wet labs will provide hands on experience in ultrasonography and podiatry.

It is amazing that in just three short years that an organization can grow from a mere concept into a vibrant and flourishing association.  This would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our ambitious executive director, Rhicco Rentas, and the board of directors.  The NEAEP also owes deep gratitude to our educational partners and sponsors who without; none of this would be possible.

As we move forward the NEAEP would like to thank its members for their continued support of this young organization and we would like to encourage others to join.  The NEAEP is constantly working to provide additional member benefits and is currently pursuing a disability insurance plan to be available to members.

Please feel free to contact the NEAEP with any ideas or questions you may have.  We aim to serve our members and the more we work together the better it is for us all, and most importantly, the horse.

Sincerely,

Etta Agan Bradecamp, DVM, Dip. ACT, ABVP

NEAEP President
